Why is there oil around the spark plugs of my Hyundai Oshan X7? :

During a recent service, my mechanic pointed out that there was oil in the spark plug wells of my Oshan X7. He said it might be due to a leaking valve cover gasket. How serious is this problem, and can it affect ignition performance o r engine health?

Oil around the spark plugs typically indicates a leaking valve cover gasket o r spark plug tube seals. These rubber seals can wear out over time, especially in hot climates like Pakistan’s. When they fail, engine oil seeps into the spark plug wells.

Consequences:

Misfires due to oil-fouled spark plugs

Reduced fuel efficiency

Potential ignition coil damage from oil exposure

What to do:

Have a mechanic inspect the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals

Replace affected seals and clean spark plugs o r replace them

Clean any oil residue to prevent electrical shorts in the ignition system
