Are brake pad wear sensors reliable in the S-Class, especially in dusty Pakistani conditions?

My brake pad warning light came on in my W221 S-Class, but when I got them checked, the pads still had plenty of life left. Could dust o r moisture be affecting the sensor performance? How accurate are these sensors in Pakistan’s climate?

Brake pad wear sensors are generally accurate, but dust, water, o r poor-quality replacements can cause false warnings. Sometimes the sensor gets damaged during pad replacement o r isn’t reset properly. Always use OEM-quality sensors and have them checked o r replaced when changing pads.
