Battery Draining Quickly Despite Being New

Many Santro owners experience that their battery drains quickly, even after installing a new battery. The car may struggle to start in the morning, o r dashboard warning lights flicker while driving. This problem often indicates an issue with the alternator not charging the battery properly. Possible Causes:

Faulty alternator not charging the battery properly

Loose o r worn alternator belt reducing charging efficiency

Corroded o r loose battery terminals

Bad voltage regulator inside the alternator

Excessive electrical load from aftermarket accessories

Solutions:

Test battery voltage with engine off and running:

Engine off: ~12.5–12.8V

Engine running: ~13.8–14.5V

Lower than this indicates alternator/voltage regulator issue.

Inspect and tighten/replace alternator belt if loose o r worn.

Clean and tighten battery terminals and cables.

Replace alternator o r internal voltage regulator if faulty.

Reduce unnecessary electrical load extra lights, music system to avoid overloading.
