Can a clogged air filter in my BMW 2 Series reduce fuel efficiency in Pakistan’s dusty environment?

I drive my BMW 218i daily through dusty areas in Lahore, and I’ve noticed a in mileage and sluggish performance. Could a clogged air filter be the reason? How often should I replace it in such conditions?

Yes, a clogged o r dirty engine air filter can significantly reduce fuel efficiency and engine performance, especially in dusty cities like Lahore, Multan, and Karachi. The air filter restricts airflow to the engine less air means the engine compensates by injecting more fuel, lowering mileage.

In Pakistan’s dusty conditions, it’s recommended to check and replace the air filter every 15,000 to 20,000 km, o r sooner if you frequently drive on unpaved roads.

A clogged air filter can also cause sluggish acceleration and rough idling.

Tip: Use genuine o r high-quality aftermarket filters designed to handle heavy dust.
