Can heat and stop-and-go traffic in Pakistan cause BMW 2 Series transmission failure?

In Karachi’s heavy traffic and high temperatures, my BMW 220i’s transmission started slipping and eventually failed. Could city driving and Pakistan’s climate cause this kind of wear and tear? How can it be prevented?

Yes, especially in Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad, where:

Constant braking and acceleration overheat DCTs

Traffic congestion keeps the clutch packs engaged too long

Lack of airflow worsens cooling efficiency
Using manual mode, avoiding excessive creeping, and regularly checking fluid temperature can reduce risk. Consider installing a transmission cooler if overheating is recurrent.
