Can I replace the spark plugs on my BMW 2 Series myself, o r should I always go to a professional?

I’m a bit handy with cars and want to save money. Is it feasible to replace the spark plugs on my BMW 220i by myself, o r does it require special tools and expertise?

Yes, if youre confident with tools and vehicle maintenance, you can replace the spark plugs yourself, but keep in mind:

You’ll need a torque wrench, spark plug socket, and anti-seize compound.

BMWs require exact gap settings and specific plug types usually Bosch o r NGK iridium.

Always disconnect the battery and avoid overtightening.

However, if you lack tools o r experience, it’s safer to let a BMW-trained technician handle it, especially if the plugs are hard to access o r if coil packs need removal.
