Can low coolant levels cause my BMW 2 Series engine to overheat quickly in Pakistan’s summer heat?

After a recent coolant top-up, my BMW 218i still overheats after short drives in Islamabad. How critical is maintaining the right coolant level for preventing overheating in high temperatures?

Absolutely. Coolant is critical for absorbing and dissipating engine heat. Low coolant means less fluid to carry heat away from the engine, leading to rapid temperature rises, especially in hot Pakistani summers. Even a small leak can cause levels to without obvious puddles under the car.

Always check coolant levels monthly, and use BMW-approved coolants. Avoid mixing coolant types, as it reduces effectiveness and can cause corrosion.
