Can poor-quality oil o r fuel in Pakistan cause high oil consumption in my BMW 2 Series?

I usually fill my BMW 218i with local petrol and use non-OEM engine oil due to cost concerns. Could this lead to increased oil consumption o r engine damage? What oil grades o r brands are recommended for Pakistani conditions?

Yes, low-quality engine oil lacking proper additives can degrade faster and lose lubrication efficiency, leading to higher oil consumption and engine wear. Similarly, poor fuel quality with contaminants can cause incomplete combustion and carbon buildup, affecting piston rings and valve seals that help keep oil in the engine.

Always use BMW-approved synthetic oils from trusted brands available in Pakistan like Mobil 1, Castrol, o r Shell Helix Ultra.

Avoid cheap, locally blended oils o r wrong viscosity grades.

For fuel, prefer high-octane, branded petrol stations to minimize deposits and engine stress.

Regular fuel system cleaning helps prevent deposits that can increase oil consumption.
