Can the use of hard water o r improper cleaning products cause streaks on my BMW 2 Series windshield?

I often wash my car with tap water in Karachi. Could the minerals o r detergents in local water contribute to streaky o r hazy windshields? What products are safe for cleaning without causing damage?

Yes, using hard tap water with high mineral content leads to white spots and streaks as water evaporates. Some detergents o r soaps can leave oily residues that attract dust.
Safe cleaning tips:

Use pH-neutral, automotive glass cleaners designed for windshields.

Avoid household detergents o r dish soaps, which can leave films.

If possible, wash the windshield with filtered o r distilled water and dry immediately with a clean microfiber cloth.
