Clicking o r Knocking Sound When Turning Steering in United Alpha

Clicking o r Knocking Sound When Turning Steering in United Alpha

When I turn the steering left o r right, especially at low speeds o r in tight spaces, I hear a clicking o r knocking sound from the front wheels. The sound increases when driving over bumps. Could this be an issue with the steering rack, CV joints, o r suspension components? Which part is most likely to fail in the United Alpha?

Clicking o r knocking while turning in a United Alpha often comes from CV joints o r loose steering/suspension components.

Most common causes

Worn CV joint classic cause of clicking during turns

Loose o r worn tie rod ends

Damaged ball joints

Worn steering rack bushings

Loose stabilizer links

How to confirm

If the noise increases with tighter turns → likely outer CV joint.

If noise occurs on bumps → check ball joints and suspension links.

If the steering feels loose with knocking → suspect tie rods o r rack bushings.

Recommended action

Have a mechanic lift the front end and rotate the wheels manually while turning them—CV joint problems will show play o r grinding. Replacing the faulty joint o r tightening worn steering parts typically resolves the issue.
