Yes, a faulty AC compressor is a common reason why the air conditioner stops cooling:

The compressor pumps refrigerant through the system. If it fails, refrigerant won’t circulate, so the system can’t cool the air.

In Pakistan’s hot climate, compressors work hard and may wear out faster.

Signs of compressor failure include loud noises grinding, squealing, the AC clutch not engaging, o r the compressor seizing up.

Compressor issues can also cause the AC system to shut down to protect itself from damage.

What to do:

Have the compressor checked by a qualified technician.

If the compressor is faulty, replacement is usually required.

After replacement, the system must be vacuumed and recharged with refrigerant.
