Could low refrigerant levels be the reason my BMW 2 Series AC is not cooling properly in Pakistan?

My BMW 218i’s air conditioner doesn’t feel as cold as before. A local mechanic mentioned it could be low gas refrigerant. How can I safely check this, and does refrigerant leak more quickly in Pakistans climate?

Yes, low refrigerant commonly called “AC gas” is one of the most common causes of weak o r no cooling.
In Pakistan’s hot and dusty environment:

Small refrigerant leaks go unnoticed and accumulate over time.

Rough roads and engine vibration can loosen AC fittings o r seals.
Symptoms of low refrigerant include:

Intermittent cooling

AC only works while driving

Clicking o r cycling sound from the compressor
To confirm, get a leak test, and ensure proper refrigerant type is used R-134a o r R-1234yf, depending on your BMW 2 Series year. Avoid overfilling — it can cause compressor damage.
