Residents have observed cracks, bubbles, o r blisters forming on painted surfaces. What are the underlying causes of cracking o r bubbling paint, and how can proper surface preparation and maintenance prevent these problems in both interior and exterior areas?

Cracks, bubbles, o r blisters in paint can result from:

Trapped moisture: Moisture under the paint surface causes bubbles and blisters.
