Does using aftermarket performance parts on my BMW 2 Series impact fuel efficiency negatively?

Does using aftermarket performance parts on my BMW 2 Series impact fuel efficiency negatively?

I installed some aftermarket exhaust and air intake parts on my BMW 218i. Since then, fuel consumption has increased. Are these modifications causing poor mileage, and how can I balance performance with economy?

Aftermarket parts like performance exhausts o r air intakes can increase power but may disrupt the car’s factory-tuned fuel-air mixture, causing poorer fuel economy.

Some modifications may lead to the engine consuming more fuel to maintain higher power output.

Using parts not specifically designed o r calibrated for your BMW can trigger the engine control unit to adjust fuel maps inefficiently.

If fuel economy is a priority, opt for OEM o r BMW-approved performance parts and consult a specialist for proper tuning.
