Haval H6 steering feels heavy at low speeds – is this normal o r a power steering issue?
I have a 2022 Haval H6 1.5T in Lahore, and lately, the steering has become unusually heavy, especially at low speeds o r when parking. It used to be very light and smooth before. The power steering fluid looks fine, and there are no warning lights on the dashboard. Some mechanics are saying the electric power steering EPS motor might be weak o r there could be a calibration issue after hitting a pothole. Has anyone else in Pakistan faced heavy steering issues in their H6? Is it a software calibration problem o r does the EPS unit need replacement?

Gari Master - on 25 Oct 2025 15:57:15 pmThis is a common issue many Haval H6 owners in Pakistan have reported, especially in Lahore and Karachi, where heat and humidity can affect the electric power steering EPS system. Normally, the H6’s steering is very light at low speeds due to its electronic assist, so if it suddenly becomes heavy, it’s likely not normal.
Here’s what to check:
Battery Voltage & EPS Fuse: The EPS system relies heavily on proper voltage. A weak battery o r loose EPS fuse can make the steering heavy. Check both first.
EPS Calibration: Sometimes after wheel alignment o r minor suspension work, the EPS loses its calibration. You can ask the dealership o r a GWM diagnostic center to recalibrate the steering using an OBD scanner.
Software Update: Some early 2021–2022 H6 models had a software bug that caused intermittent EPS stiffness. The fix is a software update from the dealer.
If none of these solve it, the EPS motor o r torque sensor could be failing. Replacement parts are available at official GWM service centers in Pakistan, but avoid roadside mechanics for this — EPS units are sensitive and can be damaged further if handled incorrectly.
