How can I tell if the water pump in my BMW 2 Series is failing in Pakistan’s hot climate?

I drive a BMW 218i in Lahore, and I’ve noticed the engine temperature going up more than usual, especially in traffic. Could this be due to a faulty water pump? What are the symptoms I should look for?

In cities like Lahore, Karachi, and Multan, where temperatures often exceed 40°C, a weak o r failing water pump can’t cool the engine effectively. Common symptoms include:

Rising engine temperature, especially in traffic o r during long idle times.

Coolant warning light o r iDrive message.

Whining noise from the engine bay.

Heater blowing cold air when set to hot due to lack of coolant circulation.

Action: Immediately get a cooling system scan. BMW’s electric water pumps are known to fail suddenly, and ignoring early signs could lead to engine overheating o r head gasket failure.
