How does a faulty ignition coil cause the Check Engine Light CEL to appear on my Mercedes E-Class in Pakistan?

Drivers in Pakistan frequently notice the Check Engine Light turning on without an obvious cause. Could faulty ignition coils trigger error codes related to misfires o r cylinder issues in the E-Class? How can owners confirm this, and what diagnostic tools are best suited for accurate detection?

Faulty ignition coils cause misfires, which the Engine Control Unit ECU detects through sensors monitoring combustion efficiency. When the ECU senses a misfire, it triggers the Check Engine Light CEL with diagnostic trouble codes such as:

P030x codes where x is the cylinder number misfiring

Ignition coil circuit malfunction codes e.g., P035x.

In Pakistan, owners often rely on generic OBD-II scanners that may miss specific Mercedes-Benz codes. Using a Mercedes STAR Diagnostic tool o r a high-end scanner is essential to accurately diagnose ignition coil faults and pinpoint the faulty cylinder.
