How to prevent transmission fluid leaks in older Land Rover Defenders in Pakistan?

I have an older Land Rover Defender in Pakistan and want to avoid transmission fluid leaks. What maintenance tips o r preventative checks can help reduce the risk of leaks? Are there common age-related issues, such as worn seals o r gaskets, that I should monitor regularly?

Preventing transmission fluid leaks involves regular maintenance and careful driving:

Check fluid levels regularly and inspect for early signs of leakage.

Replace worn seals and gaskets before they fail completely. In older Defenders, output shaft seals and pan gaskets are common culprits.

Avoid aggressive off-road driving on very rough terrain without proper underbody protection.

Tighten bolts properly after any service o r off-road repairs, especially on the transmission pan.

Use recommended transmission fluid for your Defender model to reduce internal wear.

Proactive maintenance and early detection are the most effective ways to avoid leaks and costly repairs in Pakistan’s harsh road conditions.
