Is excessive oil burning normal in JMC New Boarding during highway driving?

Whenever I take my JMC New Boarding on long routes o r highways, I notice blue smoke from the exhaust and the oil level s more than expected. The vehicle has around 40,000 km on it. Could this be due to piston rings, valve seals, turbo seals, o r something else? What should I get checked first?
