Is my BMW 2 Series engine sputtering due to a failing transmission o r torque converter?

I drive a 2018 BMW 220i in Islamabad, and lately I’ve noticed the engine sputters and jerks slightly when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, especially in slow traffic o r when the car is cold. Some mechanics say it could be the transmission o r torque converter causing the hesitation, not the engine itself. Is this a known issue in BMW 2 Series? Could low o r old transmission fluid be causing the problem?
