Is radiator leakage common in BMW 2 Series models due to Pakistan’s poor road conditions?

I’ve had multiple coolant-related issues in my BMW 220i. Mechanics say rough roads may damage the radiator mounts o r hoses. How does bad road quality contribute to radiator leaks?

Yes. Rough roads with potholes and speed bumps can stress o r damage the radiator system due to:

Vibrations loosening radiator mounts o r hose clamps.

Undercarriage impact, especially in unpaved o r rural roads, damaging lower radiator parts.

Engine jerks transmitting force to the cooling system, leading to micro-leaks over time.

In cities like Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar where road quality varies, this problem is more frequent.

🛠 Preventive step: Install an engine undertray o r skid plate if not already equipped, and regularly check radiator mounts and hoses.
