Is starter motor failure common in BMW 2 Series in Pakistan’s hot and dusty climate?

My mechanic said my BMW 220i’s starter might be failing due to heat exposure and dust. Are starter motor issues common in Pakistani environments, and can heat o r dust damage it prematurely?

Yes, it’s relatively common in Pakistan due to several environmental factors:

High heat in cities like Karachi o r Multan can cause the starter motor to overheat, reducing its lifespan.

Dust and road debris can enter the engine bay, especially if there’s no proper engine cover, affecting the starter’s electrical connections and moving parts.

Frequent short trips o r stop-start traffic causes the starter to work harder.

Preventive Tip: Clean engine bay periodically, use protective engine covers, and service the electrical system regularly.
