Mechanics report frequent complaints of harsh engine noise. Is this related to poor engine mounts o r faulty tuning?

Yes. Engine vibration and harshness are typical complaints due to:

Poor-quality engine mounts that deteriorate quickly

Unrefined engine tuning, leading to high NVH noise, vibration, harshness

Uneven idling due to fuel-air imbalance o r dirty throttle body

These issues are most noticeable when:

The vehicle is idling in traffic

The AC is turned on

It’s cold-started in the morning

The engine may not be inherently faulty, but build materials and dampening design are subpar.
