Is the Changan Kalam’s metal body material less impact-resistant than other cars in the same price segment in Pakistan?

Is the Changan Kalam’s metal body material less impact-resistant than other cars in the same price segment in Pakistan?

Some mechanics suggest the sheet metal used in the Kalam is not as durable as that in competitors like Toyota Yaris o r Honda City. How valid is this claim?

There is some validity to this claim. Compared to Toyota Yaris o r Honda City, the Changan Kalam’s sheet metal feels:

Slightly thinner

More prone to denting under low-speed impact

Less rigid in terms of resistance to door dings o r parking bumps

This is likely a result of cost-cutting in material thickness to meet affordable pricing targets, common in entry-level sedans.
