Oil consumption spiking after service — wrong oil o r faulty components?
After my Haval H6’s last service at an authorized workshop, I noticed that oil consumption has increased significantly. They changed the engine oil and filter, but the car now consumes almost 1 liter of oil every 1,000 km. Could the workshop have used the wrong oil grade, o r is this likely a mechanical problem like worn piston rings o r turbo issues? How can I confirm the cause and fix it?

Gari Master - on 25 Oct 2025 13:30:08 pmA noticeable increase in oil consumption following a service can be attributed to several factors. Its crucial to address this promptly to prevent potential engine damage.
Possible Causes:
Incorrect Oil Grade: If the wrong oil grade was used during servicing, it could lead to increased oil consumption.
Faulty Components: Issues such as worn piston rings o r valve seals can cause excessive oil consumption.
Recommended Actions:
Verify Oil Grade: Check the oil grade used during the service and ensure it matches the manufacturers specifications.
Consult Dealership: If the issue persists, consult an authorized Haval dealership for a comprehensive inspection.
Regular Monitoring: Keep track of oil levels and consumption rates to identify any ongoing issues.
