Paint chipping off from front bumper and side skirts — normal o r defect?

My Haval H6 white color has developed small paint chips on the front bumper and lower side skirts, even though I drive carefully and avoid rough roads. The car is only 18 months old. The chips are small but noticeable, and the black plastic underneath is visible. Is the paint layer too thin on these parts, o r is this normal wear and tear? Has anyone else faced this problem with their H6 in Pakistan’s road conditions?

Unfortunately, paint chipping on bumpers and side skirts is quite common for Haval H6 owners in Pakistan. It’s not necessarily a defect — rather, it’s caused by the combination of thin paint layers, road debris, and poor local road conditions.

Reasons:

The plastic parts bumpers, skirts have less paint adhesion compared to metal body panels.

Gravel, stones, and dust from roads cause micro-impacts, especially at highway speeds.

The factory paint on bumpers is relatively soft compared to the body panels.

Fixes:

For small chips, use touch-up paint o r clear coat pen available online o r at Haval dealerships.

For heavy chipping, consider repainting only the affected panels at a reputable body shop expect around PKR 10,000–15,000 per panel.

Applying paint protection film PPF o r ceramic coating after repainting helps prevent future damage.

Prevention:
Avoid tailgating other vehicles on highways, and get a front paint protection film PPF installed to protect against rock chips.
