Alternator issues can often be identified before total failure through several warning signs:

Dim o r flickering lights: Headlights, dashboard lights, o r interior lights may dim.

Battery warning light: The dashboard may show a battery o r charging warning.

Electrical malfunctions: Power windows, infotainment system, o r other electronics may behave inconsistently.

Strange noises: Grinding o r whining sounds from the alternator o r belt area.

Battery drain: The battery may frequently discharge even after a full charge.

Diagnostic steps:

Measure battery voltage with the engine off and running. A healthy alternator should produce around 13.8–14.5V when the engine is running.

Inspect the alternator belt for wear o r slack.

Check electrical connections for corrosion o r looseness.
