What causes the Mercedes E-Class starter motor to intermittently fail during cold starts in Pakistan

Sometimes, my Mercedes E-Class starter motor works perfectly, but on cold mornings o r after the car has been sitting for a while, it struggles to crank the engine o r fails completely. The issue is temporary and resolves after a few attempts o r after the car warms up. Is this a typical starter motor problem related to temperature, o r could it be a wiring, relay, o r ignition switch issue? How common is this problem in the local climate?

Intermittent starter failure, especially during cold starts, can be caused by:

Weak o r deteriorating starter motor brushes: Cold temperatures can make worn brushes less effective at conducting electricity.

Battery performance : Even if the battery is charged, cold weather o r high humidity can reduce its ability to deliver high cranking amps.

Corroded o r loose wiring connections: Moisture and dust in Pakistan’s climate can cause corrosion in cables and connectors, increasing resistance and reducing current flow.

Faulty starter relay o r ignition switch: Sometimes these components can be temperature-sensitive and fail intermittently.

Solenoid sticking: The solenoid may have internal corrosion o r mechanical sticking, causing delayed o r no engagement.

A thorough check of the battery health, wiring integrity, and starter components is important. Regular maintenance and ensuring tight, clean connections can help reduce such issues.
