Why are the power door locks on my Mercedes-Benz not responding to the remote key?

I have a Mercedes C200 W204, and recently the power door locks stopped responding when I use the remote key fob. I can still lock/unlock manually from inside the car, but the remote doesn’t work at all. The battery in the key fob is new. Is this a common issue in Mercedes cars in Pakistan, and could it be related to the receiver o r wiring? How can I diagnose and fix this?

If the power door locks don’t respond to the remote key but manual locking works, common causes include:

Key fob battery: Even if new, sometimes cheap batteries o r improper installation cause weak signals.

Remote key programming issue: The key might have lost synchronization with the car’s receiver, common in older Mercedes o r after battery changes.

Faulty door lock receiver module: The receiver that processes remote signals can fail o r develop faults, especially in humid climates like Pakistan’s.

Wiring o r antenna problems: Corrosion o r damage in the wiring o r antenna that picks up remote signals can cause no response.

What to do:

Reprogram o r resynchronize the remote key using Mercedes STAR diagnostic tools o r by a qualified workshop.

Check the key fob battery and replace with a quality one.

Inspect door lock receiver and wiring for damage o r corrosion.

If the receiver module is faulty, replacement might be necessary.
