Why do Changan Kalam owners in Pakistan frequently report engine performance issues, especially under heavy load?

Many users claim the engine lacks sufficient power on inclines o r during cargo transport. Is this due to an underpowered engine o r poor fuel quality in rural areas?

Yes, the Kalam’s engine, typically a small displacement 1.0L o r 1.2L unit, is underpowered for cargo o r hilly routes. The power-to-weight ratio is not ideal when the vehicle is fully loaded. In rural areas, poor fuel quality with low octane rating o r adulterants further reduces combustion efficiency, leading to knocking, power loss, and delayed throttle response. So it’s a combination of an undersized engine and poor fuel conditions.
