Why do ignition coils fail frequently in BMW 2 Series under 80,000 km in Pakistan?

My BMW 220i has had 2 ignition coils fail before 75,000 km, which seems too early. A local mechanic says it’s common here. Is this a known issue in Pakistan? Are there heat-related o r brand-specific reasons these coils go bad?

Common reasons for early ignition coil failure in Pakistan include:

Extreme heat in cities like Karachi and Lahore

Irregular servicing o r delayed spark plug changes

Contaminated engine bay with dust o r oil

Use of aftermarket o r fake coils

OEM coils Bosch, Delphi usually last 80,000–100,000 km, but local conditions reduce this lifespan.

Prevention:

Replace spark plugs on time even before the manual recommends

Don’t mix coil brands—stick to original specs

Avoid washing the engine bay without proper protection for coil areas
