Why does my BMW 2 Series overheat during heavy traffic in Lahore o r Karachi?

I often get stuck in traffic jams, and my BMW 220i’s temperature gauge rises quickly. The AC performance also s when the engine heats up. What causes overheating in stop-and-go traffic in hot Pakistani cities?

Heavy traffic, combined with Pakistan’s high temperatures often above 40°C, puts extra strain on the cooling system. In stop-and-go traffic, the engine is running but airflow through the radiator is minimal, reducing heat dissipation. Common causes include:

Inefficient radiator fan operation — if the electric fan isn’t kicking in properly, cooling suffers.

Low coolant levels o r degraded coolant reduces heat transfer.

Clogged radiator o r condenser blocks airflow.

Tip: Regularly check coolant levels, clean radiator fins, and ensure the fan is working. In extreme heat, avoid prolonged idling o r use auxiliary cooling methods.
