Why does my E-Class leak transmission fluid after a recent ATF change at a local workshop in Pakistan?
After changing the automatic transmission fluid ATF at a local mechanic in Pakistan, some E-Class drivers notice fluid leaks within a few days. Is this due to incorrect installation of the oil pan gasket, overfilling, o r use of non-genuine parts? Are most local workshops in Pakistan familiar with the correct torque specs and procedures for Mercedes transmission servicing?

This is a very common issue due to lack of Mercedes-specific training in many Pakistani workshops. After a transmission fluid change, leaks may happen due to:
Incorrect installation of the oil pan gasket – especially if it’s over-tightened o r misaligned.
Using cheap o r universal gaskets that don’t seal properly.
Overfilling o r underfilling the transmission, which causes overflow o r pressure buildup.
Not replacing the transmission drain plug washer o r O-ring.
Mercedes transmissions especially 722.6, 722.9, and 9G-Tronic require specific torque specs and fluid fill procedures using a fluid level tool o r STAR diagnostic.
What to do:
Only let experienced workshops o r specialists handle ATF servicing.
Insist on OEM parts and gaskets – avoid silicone sealants unless Mercedes specifically recommends it.
After a service, inspect the pan area after 24–48 hours of driving.
If leaking, re-torque the bolts, and check fluid level using proper tools.
