Why does my Mercedes-Benz E-Class engine vibrate o r feel rough at idle o r low RPMs?

I own a Mercedes E-Class W213, and recently the engine feels rough when idling o r in traffic. The RPM needle also fluctuates slightly. Could this be caused by worn engine mounts, dirty injectors, o r low-quality fuel? What should I inspect first in Pakistan’s driving environment?

Engine vibration at idle o r rough performance at low RPMs is quite common and can be felt more in city conditions like Karachi o r Lahore where traffic and stop-and-go movement are frequent.

Possible causes:

Worn engine o r transmission mounts: Allows excess engine movement.

Dirty fuel injectors o r spark plugs: Leads to misfiring o r uneven combustion.

Vacuum leaks o r air intake issues: Disturbs engine idle control.

Bad fuel o r moisture in the fuel system: Especially during rainy seasons.

What to do:

Inspect and replace engine o r transmission mounts if cracked o r loose.

Clean o r replace spark plugs and fuel injectors.

Check for vacuum leaks o r loose air hoses.

Use fuel system cleaner periodically and fill from trusted fuel stations.
