Why does my Mercedes C-Class smell bad when I turn on the AC?

Why does my Mercedes C-Class smell bad when I turn on the AC?

A clogged cabin air filter AC filter is a frequent issue in Pakistan, especially in urban areas with poor air quality. Over time, dust, pollen, and even moisture accumulate in the filter, leading to musty o r foul smells when the AC is turned on. A dirty cabin filter also reduces airflow into the cabin, making the AC less effective. Mercedes recommends checking this filter every 10,000–12,000 km, but in Pakistani conditions, it may need more frequent replacement.

This issue is typically due to a clogged o r dirty cabin air filter AC filter. In Pakistani cities where the air contains a lot of dust, pollution, and moisture, the cabin filter traps these particles and starts to smell over time. It can also cause reduced airflow and strain on your AC system. To prevent this, the cabin filter should be inspected and replaced every 10,000 to 12,000 km, o r even sooner if you drive in heavily polluted areas like Karachi, Lahore, o r Islamabad.
