“Why does my Tesla Model 2 steering feel stiff when driving on Pakistani roads?”

“Why does my Tesla Model 2 steering feel stiff when driving on Pakistani roads?”

Recently, the steering on my Tesla Model 2 has become harder to turn, especially at low speeds. Pakistan’s uneven road conditions and frequent potholes may have affected the steering components. Is this a common issue, and could it be related to the steering rack, power steering motor, o r wheel alignment?

Stiff steering is a fairly common issue when Teslas are driven on rough o r uneven roads, which are common in many parts of Pakistan. The steering in Tesla cars is electronically assisted, so anything that affects the power steering motor, steering rack, o r suspension components can cause stiffness.

Possible causes:

Hitting potholes o r speed breakers too hard

Low voltage supply to the electric power steering system

Damaged tie rods o r ball joints

Steering rack wear due to poor road conditions

Wheel alignment being significantly off

What to do:

Get a wheel alignment check—this solves stiffness in many cases.

Inspect tie rods, ball joints, and control arms for damage.

Update the vehicle software if there is a steering-related calibration patch.

Have the power steering motor checked by a Tesla-certified technician o r an EV specialist.

Regular inspections are recommended due to Pakistan’s harsh road conditions.
