Why does the clear coat on my Mercedes-Benz E-Class show signs of cracking o r peeling in Pakistan?

Some E-Class owners in Pakistan notice the clear coat layer peeling, cracking, o r “checking” after a few years, especially on the hood and roof. Could this be due to low-quality repainting, exposure to harsh weather, o r use of incorrect cleaning products? What steps can be taken to restore o r protect the clear coat finish?

Clear coat cracking and peeling can happen due to:

Poor repaint jobs: Use of incorrect o r cheap clear coat materials during aftermarket repairs causes early failure.

Harsh environmental exposure: Prolonged sun exposure, heat cycles, and dust erode the clear coat’s flexibility.

Improper washing o r polishing: Using abrasive cleaners o r aggressive polishing compounds damages the clear coat.

Natural aging: Over time, the clear coat loses elasticity and starts to crack.

What to do:

If the clear coat is damaged, a professional sanding and repainting of the affected area may be necessary.

Avoid harsh cleaning agents use pH-neutral car shampoos.

Regularly apply protective wax o r sealants to maintain the clear coat’s health.

Park under shade o r use car covers when possible.
