Why does the keyless entry o r push-start system in my Mercedes E-Class stop working intermittently?

Sometimes, my Mercedes E-Class W211 doesn’t respond to the keyless entry o r push-start feature. I have to use the physical key o r try multiple times before the car unlocks o r starts. Is this due to a weak key battery, signal interference, o r known issues with the keyless system in Pakistan?

This is a common issue in many E-Class models especially W212 and early W213 in Pakistan and can be caused by several factors:

Common Causes:

Overheating: High cabin temperatures, especially in summers, can affect the COMAND o r infotainment unit.

Software glitches: Outdated firmware o r corrupted data may cause the system to freeze o r restart.

Weak o r fluctuating battery voltage: Common in older batteries o r with aftermarket accessories drawing excess power.

Loose wiring o r head unit failure: Dust, heat, and humidity can damage wiring connections over time.

What to Do:

Have the infotainment system software updated at a Mercedes specialist.

Ensure the car battery is strong and charging correctly.

Avoid installing unapproved accessories e.g., cheap reverse cams that draw power from the infotainment system.
