Why does the power window of my Mercedes-Benz E-Class get stuck halfway while rolling down?

My Mercedes E-Class W211 power window sometimes stops moving halfway down and won’t respond unless I try several times. It sometimes makes a grinding noise. I usually drive in Karachi, and the weather is humid. Could dirt o r damaged window regulators cause this? What’s the recommended maintenance o r repair for this issue?

A power window that gets stuck halfway and sometimes makes a grinding noise usually points to:

Worn o r damaged window regulator: The mechanical assembly that moves the glass can wear out o r break.

Dirty o r rusty window tracks: Dust, humidity, and poor maintenance in Karachi can cause the tracks to bind, making movement difficult.

Weak window motor: A motor losing power may stall under load.

Obstruction inside the door panel: Loose cables o r debris can block smooth operation.

What to do:

Remove the door panel and inspect the regulator mechanism for damage o r wear.

Clean and lubricate the window tracks using appropriate grease.

Replace the window regulator if broken.

Check the motor for adequate power and replace if weak.
