Why is my BMW 2 Series F22 battery dying frequently even after replacement?

I drive a 2016 BMW 2 Series F22 in Karachi and recently replaced the battery, but it keeps dying after a few days. A mechanic mentioned the alternator might not be charging properly. Is this a common issue with BMWs in Pakistan, and how can I confirm if the alternator is the problem? Any recommendations for reliable diagnostics o r repair in Pakistan?

Frequent battery drainage in your BMW 2 Series F22, especially after a recent battery replacement, is often a sign that the alternator isn’t properly charging the battery. This is a known issue in some BMWs, especially older models o r those driven in urban Pakistani conditions like Karachi, where stop-and-go traffic, high heat, and voltage fluctuations can strain the charging system.

Here are a few things to check:

Alternator Output: Have a professional test the alternator’s voltage output with a multimeter. It should read around 13.8V to 14.5V when the engine is running.

Drive Belt/Wiring: Sometimes the serpentine belt o r alternator wiring becomes loose o r worn out, which affects charging. Mechanics often overlook this.

Parasitic Drain: A module in BMWs like the IBS sensor o r the infotainment system can sometimes stay active and drain the battery even when the car is off.

Recommendation:
Get a proper diagnostic scan with a BMW-specific tool like ISTA from a reliable workshop in Karachi. Some good options include Shahnawaz BMW, o r experienced German car specialists like Autotechnik. A regular scan can often detect early signs of alternator failure o r control module faults.
