Why is my BMW 2 Series showing poor fuel economy in Pakistani city traffic?

I drive my BMW 220i mostly in Karachi’s heavy traffic, but I’ve noticed the fuel consumption is much higher than expected. Is stop-and-go traffic the main reason, o r are there other factors specific to BMW engines that I should check?

Heavy stop-and-go traffic, like in Karachi o r Lahore, causes your BMW’s engine to work harder, idling more and accelerating frequently, which significantly lowers fuel efficiency.

Frequent idling wastes fuel since the engine runs without covering distance.

Air conditioning use in hot climates also increases fuel consumption.

Driving habits such as sudden acceleration and heavy braking further reduce mileage.

To improve, maintain smooth acceleration, avoid excessive idling, and plan trips to minimize time in traffic.
