Why is my BMW 2 Series steering wheel making noise when turning at low speeds?

When I turn my BMW 218i’s steering wheel at slow speeds o r while parking, I hear a creaking o r groaning noise. Could this be due to a steering rack problem o r lack of lubrication? Is this common in Pakistan’s hot climate?

Noises like creaking, groaning, o r squeaking while turning at low speeds e.g., during parking can be due to:

Dry o r worn suspension bushings o r ball joints.

Low o r old power steering fluid in models with hydraulic systems.

Steering rack issues, especially common if the car is driven regularly on rough roads like those in Lahore o r Karachi.

Dirty o r cracked steering boots, letting in dust and causing noise.

Get the steering components and suspension system inspected. Lubrication o r bushing replacement might resolve it.
