: Why is my Haval H6 engine temperature rising quickly even after a short drive?

I have a 2022 Haval H6 1.5T variant in Karachi, and lately, the engine temperature starts rising after just 10–15 minutes of city driving, especially when the A/C is on. The coolant level looks fine, and I don’t see any leaks under the car. A mechanic said it could be a faulty water pump not circulating coolant properly. I’ve heard that Haval water pumps can fail early due to local heat and low-quality coolant. Has anyone else faced this issue in Pakistan? How can I confirm if the water pump is bad before replacing it?

This issue is quite common with the Haval H6, especially in hot cities like Karachi where traffic and high ambient temperatures push the cooling system to its limits. Even though the coolant looks fine, the problem often lies in the electric water pump not circulating coolant efficiently.

Here’s what you can check:

Coolant Flow Test: With the engine running, open the coolant reservoir cap carefully, when it’s cool and check if you can see coolant movement — if it’s stagnant, the pump might not be working properly.

Listen for the Pump: The H6’s pump should make a faint whirring sound when the ignition is turned on before the engine starts. No sound may indicate failure.

Scan for Error Codes: Sometimes, a failing pump triggers hidden fault codes like P261B o r P261C related to the coolant pump performance.

If the pump is weak o r intermittent, replacing it is the best solution. Many Haval owners in Pakistan have had to change their OEM water pumps within 30,000–40,000 km. Always use original GWM coolant and OEM parts — cheaper coolant o r local replacements can cause the new pump to fail early again.
