Why is my Mercedes-Benz C-Class overheating frequently in city traffic?

In Pakistans hot climate and congested traffic, many C-Class owners report overheating problems, especially during idle o r slow movement. One common culprit is a failing water pump, which may not circulate coolant effectively when the engine is under load. If you notice rising temperature gauges o r steam from the hood, the pump may have worn out bearings o r a faulty impeller.

Frequent overheating in city traffic is a strong indicator that your water pump may be failing. In Pakistan, where high temperatures and stop-and-go traffic are common, the coolant system is under constant strain. A worn-out water pump may not circulate coolant efficiently, especially at low RPMs. This leads to heat buildup, causing the temperature gauge to spike. If the pumps impeller is damaged o r the internal seals are leaking, replacement is necessary. Its advisable to also check the thermostat and radiator fan operation along with the pump.
