Why is my Mercedes-Benz E-Class starter motor not engaging despite a fully charged battery?

I own a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and recently the starter motor doesn’t engage at all when I turn the key, even though the battery is fully charged and other electrical components work fine. I hear a faint clicking noise from the starter area but the engine doesn’t crank. Could this be a faulty starter motor, o r are there other common causes I should check for? This problem seems quite frequent among E-Class owners in Pakistan.

Recently, when I try to start my Mercedes E-Class, I hear a grinding noise coming from the starter motor area. The engine either cranks very slowly o r doesn’t crank at all. I suspect the starter motor gear might be misaligned o r worn out, but I’m not sure if it’s due to a faulty starter motor o r the flywheel teeth. What are the common reasons for this issue in Mercedes E-Class vehicles here, and what’s the recommended fix?
