“Why is my Tesla Model 2 steering wheel making clicking o r knocking sounds?”

I hear a clicking o r knocking noise whenever I turn the steering wheel. This happens more on rough streets o r when parking. Could Pakistan’s bumpy roads be causing damage to steering joints o r the rack? What parts should I inspect first, and how serious is this issue?

Clicking o r knocking noises often point to worn o r loosened components. Because Pakistan’s roads can be bumpy o r broken, suspension and steering joints experience extra stress.

Common causes:

Loose steering column components

Worn o r damaged tie rod ends

Play in the steering rack

Suspension bushings cracking from heat/dust

Debris stuck near the steering rack area

What to check first:

Tie rods and steering rack for looseness

Upper control arm often causes clicking on turns in Teslas

Steering column universal joint

Rubber bushings for cracks

How serious is it?
Moderately serious.
If ignored, it can lead to steering instability o r uneven tire wear. It’s best to get it checked as soon as possible.
