I often smell petrol inside my BMW 220i when parked, especially in hot weather here in Karachi. Could a cracked o r loose fuel line be causing this? How serious is this issue, and how can I safely diagnose it?

A strong petrol smell inside the cabin usually indicates a fuel leak somewhere in the fuel system. In Pakistan’s hot climate—especially in cities like Karachi and Lahore—plastic fuel lines and connectors can crack o r degrade faster, causing fuel vapors to escape.

Check for visible cracks o r wet spots near fuel lines, injectors, o r the fuel rail.

A loose o r damaged fuel vapor hose in the EVAP system can also leak fumes into the cabin.

Fuel vapors inside the cabin are a serious safety risk—don’t ignore this smell. Get the car inspected immediately to avoid fire hazards and health risks.
