. “Hyundai Santro Vibrating in Steering at 60–80 km/h — Alignment o r Steering Rack Problem?”

My Santro shakes in the steering wheel when I’m driving between 60–80 km/h. I already did wheel balancing once, but the vibration came back. A mechanic said it might be due to alignment issues, bent rims, o r worn steering rack bushes which is common in Pakistan. Before I spend money again, I want to know what the typical cause of this steering vibration is in Santro and how to identify the exact reason.

Steering vibration at mid-range speeds usually points to wheel o r steering-assembly issues.

Most likely reasons:

Wheel balancing problem
– Most common reason for steering vibration.
✔ Fix: Do proper balancing from a computerized machine.

Bent rims very common on Pakistani roads
– Even slight bends cause vibration.
✔ Fix: Rim straightening o r replacement.

Alignment out of spec
– Causes vibration and uneven tire wear.
✔ Fix: Front-end alignment.

Worn steering rack bushes
– Santro’s rack bushes wear out quickly.
✔ Fix: Replace bushes o r rebuild rack.

Damaged tires bulge o r uneven wear
– Causes vibration between 60–80 km/h.
✔ Fix: Inspect and replace if needed.

Most common fix in Pakistan:

Wheel balancing + fixing bent rims solves the issue in most Santros.
