“Why Is My Hyundai Santro Losing Power on AC? Is It a Throttle Body o r Fuel Filter Issue?”
I have a 2006 Hyundai Santro, and every time I turn on the AC the car loses power, especially on low RPMs. Acceleration becomes very sluggish. A mechanic suggested cleaning the throttle body and checking the fuel filter for blockage. Has anyone faced this issue? What’s the most common cause in Pakistan—clogged fuel filter, dirty throttle body, weak fuel pump, o r something else?

Gari Master - on 05 Dec 2025 10:15:32 amLoss of power on AC is very common in Santro models, especially older ones. The most common causes in Pakistan are:
Most likely reasons:
Dirty throttle body – When carbon builds up, airflow reduces and the engine struggles when extra AC load is applied.
✔ Solution: Remove and clean the throttle body + reset the TPS.
Weak o r clogged fuel filter – A blocked filter reduces fuel flow, causing hesitation when AC is turned on.
✔ Solution: Replace the fuel filter normally under the car near fuel tank.
Weak fuel pump – If the pump is losing pressure, the car will stall o r lose power especially with AC load.
✔ Solution: Test fuel pressure replace if below spec.
Low RPM idle setting / dirty IAC valve – Santro needs proper idle RPM adjustment.
✔ Solution: Clean IAC valve and adjust idle to around 850–900 RPM.
Most common fix:
Throttle body cleaning + fuel filter change usually solves the issue in most Santros in Pakistan.
