. What causes the water pump in a Suzuki Swift to fail prematurely in Pakistan?

I’ve had to replace the water pump in my 2015 Swift twice in 4 years. A mechanic said it’s due to dirty coolant o r using tap water. Is poor coolant quality a real issue here, and how can I prevent early water pump failure?

Water pump failure in Pakistan is often caused by poor maintenance and local water quality. Common reasons include:

Using tap water instead of proper coolant leads to corrosion and mineral deposits

Cheap o r mixed coolants with low corrosion resistance

Not flushing the cooling system regularly should be done every 30,000–50,000 km

Worn o r over-tensioned drive belts stressing the pump bearing

To prevent failure:

Always use recommended coolant brands e.g. Caltex, Toyota Genuine, ZIC

Avoid mixing different coolant types

Replace coolant every 1–2 years

Check for belt tension and condition

If your Swift is regularly driven in hot and dusty environments, cooling system maintenance is even more critical.
